My husband was stationed in Ft.Stewart, Geogia--a military installation about 25 miles away from Savannah and right outside a town called Hinesville. The waiting list for on-post housing is extremely long, so we decided that we'd look for an apartment off post. Fortunately, we found one called Stewart Way Apartments about 3 or 4 blocks from the main gate.
The odd manifestations started happening about 2 or 3 weeks after we first moved in our apartment and lasted until we moved out, which was about three months ago (we were there for three years). One night, I was sitting in the kitchen facing the laundry/utility room and I had to use the bathroom. Since the door to the laundry room was open, I decided to close it before I went about my business. I distinctly remember shutting it all the way until it "clicked" and proceeded to the bathroom. I was in there pretty quick and I headed back to the kitchen to finish reading a magazine, when I paused right by the laundry room door--it was left WIDE open. The back of the door was touching the wall behind it. I immediately froze and probably stared at that area for a good five minutes, trying to comprehend what I was just seeing. We didn't have a washer or dryer then, so nothing in there could've jarred it open. I mentioned it to my husband, but he thought I forgot to close the door all the way.
The second occurance happened about a few months later in our bedroom. My husband and I were both sound asleep when I heard a sharp, loud knocking noise around the window. It began near the window (which was right by my head) and seemed to work its way around the walls in our bedroom; as if it was knocking its way around the house. It was pretty loud because I woke up, but I was so dazed from my sleep, I thought it was one of my husband's soldiers, I told the sound, "He's sleeping right now, he'll be at work in the morning." Amazingly, I fell back to sleep. Later on, I felt my husband get up and walk to the kitchen and head back to bed. The following morning, he told me that he heard a bunch of noises (rappings) last night in our room, he got up to search the apartment. I told him I heard them too, but to this day, we can't explain it. We've only heard them that one night.
One of the last "odd" incidents happened a few months before we moved out. I usually get up around five to get ready for work, and one morning, I went to the kitchen and flipped the light. On top of the kitchen table was a drinking glass smashed into pieces; about four large pieces. I immediately blamed my husband, who was still sleeping, and accused him of leaving the glass there for me to clean it up in the morning. Needless to say, he didn't have a clue as to what I was nagging him about. He asked my why would he leave a bunch of broken glass on the table and not throw it away? He was right. Also, we never leave any plates or unused glasses on the table. It's usually in the sink waiting to be washed or up in the cupboard. As I inspected the glass, I noticed the base was still intact and it was placed near one of the corners of the table. The other peices were scattered close to and around it. There were no tiny pieces on the floor or table. It looked as if someone had put their fist inside the glass and broke it that way (judging by how the pieces lay on the table). It was just too wierd.
There were other wierd events in that apartment, but those that I've mentioned just happen to stick out in my head. I've never mentioned it to our landlady, but I'm sure there was someone or something in there!
