Unsigned Check
Ghost

submitted by Mummy's Curse

I was surfing the web tonight & came upon your site. I have no particular belief in ghosts though I have always been interested in the topic. I thought you might enjoy hearing about an experience my mother had.

My father died of lung cancer in 1997. His mother had died the year before and he was executor of her will. Due to his illness, many of the things that needed to be done to have her will probated were put off. I was living out of state at the time but my brother flew in to help with some of the details because apparently it would have caused much hassle if he had died before the probate was completed. Papers and checks were being signed by my father even as he was bedridden by his illness. The details were plaguing him.

One night, about a month after his death, my mother was lying awake in bed. She had just turned the light off after reading. She was facing away from the door and the short hall that leads into her room. Suddenly, she heard the door open and my father's footsteps in the hall. The steps approached closer and then she could feel him getting into the bed. She didn't turn around because she was afraid. She heard him say very clearly, I think I forgot to sign a check. She did not respond but laid there scared until she got the courage to look. There was nothing there.

The next day she went to his grave and told him that all the detail of his mother's will had been completed, there were no checks to sign, she missed him but she was fine. She finished with 'so you stay where you are.'She has never had another 'visitation.'

Even my mother is unsure of what happened. She says she was not asleep, she had just turned off the light. She would kill me if she knew I had written this. It is not a story that she has shared with many people. In fact, after I heard about it from my brother I had to ask her for the details.
