Poem

Summer Ode

There were roses, I remember,
And the lilacs were in bloom,
And the days were long and lazy,
And the evenings fresh and cool.

There were watermelon sunsets,
And the raspberries were ripe,
And the moon was lemon yellow,
And I held your hand in mine.

There were dandelion mornings,
And the wine was young and sweet,
And the magic filled our senses,
And the heavens filled our needs.

Then the days grew ever shorter
And the summer quickly passed,
And the love you pledged eternal,
Like the summer, faded fast.

But the magic remains with me
Binding me to that short time
When the moon was lemon yellow
And the raspberries were ripe.
