I used to live with Fear.
What a waste of time.
So many days I lost
Because I was so blind.
Fear became a master.
He would always choose.
Fear played a game with me
And I would always lose.
Fear woke me in the morning
And stepped into my day.
He said, I will not leave you
Today, again, we’ll play.
He chose to be the winner
Of each and every game.
And though I’d try to change it
Each day would end the same.
But then I woke one morning
With you, my Lord, instead.
You said you’d like to challenge
Fear, inside my head.
You said to put Your ARMOR on
To dress appropriately for the fight.
The battle, though ferocious,
Would be won tonight.
You told Fear when it was over
That he would have to flee.
But knowing he’d still try to visit
You said these words to me.
“My child, I do love you
If you have faith and you believe
Each morning I’ll remind you
That, today, you’ve been set free.
But Fear will again come knocking.
He’ll try to slowly step back in.
He’ll try again to play with you
And remind you, he was once your friend.
You’ll have a choice, again, my child
To put MY ARMOR on.
To shield yourself with faith
And say, Today I will be strong.
If you let Me become your Master,
Together we will win each fight.
My love will then remind you
You are precious, a pure delight.
Today, We’ll be the Masters
Fear will cringe, he’ll run, he’ll hide.
For today, my dear, you’re not alone
You’ve chosen to live with Me inside.
