Lighthouse

Just down the road....around the bend,
Stands a majestic lighthouse...once asailor's best friend.

Proudly, she stands on that rocky shore,
Once a beacon of safety that ships darednot ignore.

Light shining to sea on stormy night,
To guide the unwary and still the fright.

Made no difference to her from whencethe ships came;
In times of need, they were all the same.

Her message was plain...There is dangerhere;
Keep a safe distance and you havenothing to fear.

If able to talk, she could tell many tales;
Going back to the times when shipscarried sails.

A secluded home for keeper and wife,
Away from the hassle of city life.

Then, a change in technology cameabout;
She was no longer needed, and the lightwas turned out.

Monument to the past; alone at land'send.
Just down the road.....around the bend.
