Poem

Unforgettable

We fell in love as children; I think that I was three
We always played together, that lovely girl and me.
And as we grew together she quickly stole my heart
I knew I'd always love her and never let us part.

She taught me how to dance to take her to the prom
I called for her at six o'clock and smiled at Dad and Mom.
That night was something special; the suit I wore was new
My shirt was white; the tie was red, my suit a navy blue.

She wore a dress....or was it pants? She must have worn a gown
I stared into her eyes of blue, or maybe they were brown.
She might have stood at five feet two, then I'd be looking down
A limo came to pick us up to drive us into town.

We dated all through college, my love just grew and grew
Our life must be together was something I just knew.
I couldn't go on living a minute or a year
Without her there beside me; to me she was so dear.

She meant the very world to me. I'd never let her go
She was important you can see. I have to tell you so.
I knew I had to have her to be my true love yet,
She was the one, the only one I never will forget.

What's that? You'ld like to hear her name? Let's see, I'm sure I know.
I think I had it written down. Now where'd that paper go?
It may have started with a B. Now was it long or short?
Although it could have been a G Hold on a minute, Sport.
