Poem

Tombstone

(with apologies for the first line)

I wandered, lonely in my shroud;
No rest for me on this sad night!
I hungered and I wailed aloud
For pizza, spare me just one bite!

Alas, I’m dead; I ate too much
Of burgers, pizzas and donairs,
And then ‘twas indigestion’s touch
That pushed me headlong down the stairs.

I tumbled down that empty flight
And there expired, all alone.
I wail now, pizzaless each night!
This epitaph’s on my tombstone.
