The Newcomers At Our House

Hoppy and Flip, two fire-bellied toads
Have joined us to live here today.
They're sharing a planted toadarium now
I'm hoping they'll have a long stay.

They wear a light green all speckled with black
And bellies are orangey-red,
A pool of their own to swim in each day
And some damp sphagnum moss for a bed.

A diet of crickets and various bugs,
A spider or two now and then;
A worm would be nice, maybe once or else twice
And top with a cricket again.

They'll like living here feeling safe, free of fear
With a couple of old gentle folk.
We'll care for them now; we're finding out how,
And I'm sure that it won't make us broke.
