Poem

Friendships

I think of my friends
From out of my past
I think of new friends
How long can they last

Because of our ages
The new ones can't last
As long as my old ones
Did from my past

Twas said when we were young
How long can this last
Who could know
We could look back at our past

And see that our friendships
Would surely last
That we would be able
To reach back to our past

That we could see
60 years have passed
Looking back at my life
Looking back at my past

I realize how lucky I am
My friendships did last
So I count my blessings
And friends from the past

And thank God
I've lived long enough
For these friendships
To last
