Tale of The Lonesome Pine

Along the side of a wind-swept slope
That borders the timberline,
Grew a solitary, stately tree
A lonely, lonesome pine.

No other trees nearby to send
Soft messages on the breeze
Those whispered friendly messages
Reaching out to all the trees.

How worthless I am, the lone tree sighed
No purpose in life have I
Without a friend to talk to,
I think I'd rather die.

One day two eagles approached the tree,
Exhausted and travel weary.
Oh mighty tree, a haven you are
Tis here we'll build our aerie.

The tree, like a sentinel, now stood tall
Its branches formed a smile.
No longer would it in solitude stand.
Its life was now worthwhile.
