Poem

Her Lifeboat Is Sinking

Vicarious suffering her loved ones endured
As unhappiness shadowed her life
Continuously she was immersed by her actions
In avoidable stresses and strife

Her unstable lifeboat has foundered again-
This time in a heavier sea
No SOS signal transmitted by her
is sending a more plaintive plea

No call has been issued for rescuing her.
To guide her in safely to shore
Or to bail out the boat that is sinking again
And save from destruction once more.

The danger to greater proportions has grown
New holes in the hull and the deck
If an effort to bail-out is not quickly made
Her lifeboat is destined to wreck

If survival is really her sincere desire
Soon she must reach out for help
It is now beyond anything just she alone
Can manage to save by herself

She rejects all the arms that are reaching to her
That lovingly offer assistance
Her lines to communicate all she has cut
To repair them is met with resistance

She seems quite intent on destroying herself
But the victim is not she alone
Her cargo consists of four innocent lives
To be lost along with her own

It’s out of the hands of the ones who care most
Accepting the cross they must bear
Their only hope that in God’s own time
In someway he’ll answer their prayer
