Poem

Frosted Memories

Glistening frost on the windowpane
Carries me away
To sights and sounds of children
Joyfully at play

I hear their gleeful laughter
The crunching of the snow
And see happy beaming faces
Flushed with winter's glow

Sleigh rides and snow angels
Mittens dangling from a string
Voices squealing with delight
At the magic snowflakes bring

The clinking sound of skate blades
On the rink outside the door
Eyes sparkling with excitement
As toques and snowballs soar

Then the frost and vision dissipate
My children are still grown
I no longer hear their laughter
As I stand here all alone.
