The Prettiest Dress

Well Hon.. we both knew this time was bound to come
But we didn't know which of us would be the one
I've ask the family to wait outside a minute or two
'cause I wanted a few minutes by myself
To share some old memories with you.

I remember the first time I saw you....
and how you stole this ol' heart of mine
I took the last cent I had in my pocket
and bought you the prettiest dress I could find.
Oh.... we courted for awhile... and I just drove you wild
until you finally said yes,, you'd be mine
then I gave you that ring, and one other thing,
the prettiest dress I could find

We shared joy and tears for next fifty...fifty five years
but all I recall are the good times
and the way I'd prove how mucch I love you
with the prettiest dress I could find
Oh I know my love was so strong... but when the kids came along
I was just helpless as could be when it came time
You'd just lie there and grin.. when I'd come struttin' in
with the pretiest dress I copuld find

Well hon... It's so differant this time...
there wasn't a thing in the world I could do
a..a..and you know how I just go to pieces
when something happens to you.
I just want to say Hon.... I love you...
and sweetheart, you look just fine
an' before I go, I want you to know
that was the prettiest dress I could find
So... I'll say goodbye now... 'til tomorrow
You... you wait for me when you reach the edge of time
And if there is such a thing as shoppin' in heaven
I'll buy you the prettiest dress I can find.
