Poem

Dreams are Only Dreams

On a summer evening long ago
Sitting near a stream
Images of knights and castles
Filled her childhood dreams
She thought of only pretty things
(Too young to know of pain)
Believing in a dream world
Forever she would remain

True to all those childhood dreams
Her knight came by, and then
He stole her heart and carried her
To a place she'd never been
And filled her life with roses
Slew dragons every day
But then one day an Angel came
And took her knight away

The years have passed, the castle's still
And she sits by the stream
And dreams of knights and castles
And all her childhood dreams
For she had seen her dream come true
And watched it fade again
And smiles to heaven when she hears
But dreams are only dreams.
