Just down the road.....around the bend,
Autumn will arrive and summer will end.
The days will grow shorter...the nights willturn cool;
The end of freedom for children.......thebeginning of school.
Vacations will end...activities will change.
The lack of leisure will limit our range.
Squirrels and chipmunks will gatherwinter food,
And deer will soon be in a romantic mood.
Cheers will be heard from the footballfield;
They will continue until victory is sealed.
Potatoes will be dug...apples stored away;
The harvest of corn will soon get under way.
Some leaves will turn red......others to gold;
The glorious colors of nature will begin tounfold.
All too soon, those leaves will fall to theground,
To tell us that winter is lurking around.
Then a hard freeze will come and autumnwll end;
Just down the road....around the bend.
