If I could spend a week or two or more
In matching rhyme and meter to the text,
I'd write an epic full of blood and gore
And heroines discreetly oversexed.
The plot would be replete with rue and passion
And daring deeds that could not fail to thrill.
The hero, Rambo dressed in latest fashion,
Would waste the baddies twice-an overkill.
This epic ought to make me rich and famous-
I'll write a movie script beyond compare.
The story's geared for any ignoramus-
Let critics find the message hidden there.
My epic verses do not meet the test
And so I'll write a sonnet on request.
